We caught up with Puravi to understand more about what yoga and mindfulness means to her. Puravi is a fan of our supplements (and we’re a fan of her!). Read on to find out how NobleBlu supplements help her with her wellness routine.
Tell us a little about yourself and your journey into yoga and mindfulness.
Hey I’m Puravi a yoga and mindfulness teacher from London. I teach everyone from toddlers (yes, they love yoga!!) all the way to adults. I truly believe that if we teach young children yoga and mindfulness when they hit adulthood they’ll be better equipped with these amazing tools for when life happens!
I’m a trained classical Indian dancer and have been dancing since I was 4 and yoga was very much part of our practice (although I most definitely wasn’t paying attention at the time). I’d say I really got into my yoga journey in my mid-twenties, it’s when wellness became so much more of a priority for me. I’ve suffered from migraines since I was 13 so I was seeking a holistic way to help me navigate them in a more manageable way. I realised stress was a big factor for me, which is when Yoga and Mindfulness came and rescued me!
When did you become a yoga teacher?
I became a yoga teacher in 2017 after leaving the investment banking world (I know what a change!) I’ll be honest and I’ll say I neglected my mental well-being really till about 2 years ago when I decided I had to make a shift and prioritise myself. My days are filled with giving energy out to other people so it’s really important that I take care of myself so that I don’t pour from an empty cup. Yoga has been my greatest tool especially when our minds get the better of us which they can do sometimes! Yoga helps you to achieve balance in your life as it gives you time to focus on the present moment, especially when you’re in a physical asana (posture) class, we can take yoga off the mat and apply it to our everyday. Yoga meets you where you are free of judgement and I think that there’s so much beauty in that.
How would you describe wellness and how does NobleBlu fit in to it for you?
Wellness isn’t just keeping physically fit, it’s so much more; it’s looking after your mind and mental wellbeing too. It’s finding a 360 approach to well-being that works for you. I’ve been taking NobleBlu for a few months now and they compliment my day perfectly, whether I need Focus if I’m on deadline for something, Balance when I’m feeling a bit anxious (and hormonal) and Energy to help me get through my day!! I love that not only are they scientific but they’re botanical too…they’re definitely a bit of me!
Do you have any tips for anyone starting their journey into mindfulness?
Mindfulness can be quite intimidating as it’s such an umbrella term, but really, we can all be mindful in so many different ways, here are a few tips to get you started on your mindfulness journey.
- Set your alarm 5 minutes earlier and use those 5 minutes to meditate, to think about what your grateful for, how you start your day is what sets the tone for the rest of it!
- Don’t rush your morning tea or coffee, I used to run out the door and rush to work before now I take my time and drink my tea and have my breakfast, the world can wait. When we’re not rushing, we get to appreciate things a little bit more.
I’ve got a few tips
- Get your steps in and step away from the screen. We’ve become such a technology focussed society but our eyes will thank us if we go outside an expand just how much we can see. Get out into nature!
- Take time to do something that nourishes you, whether it’s a yoga class, swimming, a spin class, running. Find what works for you that brings you joy and make time for it in your week!
Do you have any quotes or mantras that you live by?
Yes! I’m going to leave you with one of my favourite quotes.
“You are not your thoughts; you are the observe of your thoughts it’s a gentle reminder for me when I get stressed and anxious”
“This too shall pass – life is poetry in motion and we have to ride the highs and the lows, be humble when you’re in your high and know that your low won’t last forever!”
